Remember when you hated math class in school? Scott Flansburg says it's because we were taught the 'wrong,' more complex method. In reality, math is simple and can even be magical when learned the right way. Watch as Scott, the world's fastest human calculator, makes us fall in love with math in a whole new way.

Not only are there 4 numbers that have 4 letters and they are positioned that way. 0 + 4 + 5 = 9 . Can you use this as a reminder that 0 should be seen as a number.?

just because you can add subtract multiply or divide fast doesn't mean your good at math. Try creating your own math formulas based on your own research data. For the people who are wondering why so many comments are negative, and for the good people making the important distinction between math as a whole and it's subset known as arithmetic, here: They're right, it's important to maintain integrity by being accurate and honest about exactly what it is you're showcasing, especially when you hype it up this much. It can be misleading to some to think this is something it isn't. However, that doesn't take away from how awesome and inspiring what this man does can be. Math is a beautiful, rich study that goes much deeper than arithmetic. But, sometimes, when you want to excite someone about something, you must excite them about the first layer, the most relatable and understandable layer that exists within it. For math, that is arithmetic. You don't try to teach someone music by first expecting them to understand how to play a Ravel concerto for the left hand alone. You teach them by starting with chopsticks and scales. The reason this whole exhibition is presented the way it is is to grab the attention of the common person, the unaware. Information for which the brain can make no relations is perceived only as white noise. You have to give a newcomer a sense of understanding so they can start drawing their own relations before they start to see the deeper potential within a field of study. Yes, this is admittedly clickbait. But it is USEFUL clickbait and INSPIRING clickbait. It may come across as a man's ego acting itself out using his body as a vessel, and it MAY very well be, but it is still a pathway to learning and understanding. The fact that it has gotten so much attention is not necessarily a bad thing. It is a testament to sharing knowledge, perhaps the noblest pursuit of humankind. Don't feel bad if you enjoyed this, and if you didn't like it and you know why, you can point it out, but please don't turn others away from their journey of exploration by tearing it down alone. You can explain left out, critical information without taking away from the beauty of something as a whole. Is there a better alternative to the motivation this video offers? If so, share. If not, please encourage people. Thank you for reading this.

The whole point of the number zero is to represent a lack of something. If you hold up one finger, you are not holding up "zero" fingers. There is no faster way to confuse a child than to try to teach them that one finger equals "zero". You know how I know this? Because it's been TRIED BEFORE. We teach kids what "zero" means very early on anyway - this is just an added layer of potential confusion. You know what better represents zero? Holding no fingers up. Also, he did a really piss poor job of explaining how starting with zero is "how a calculator thinks". (And by that, I mean he didn't explain it *at all.*) Finally, his explanation of the "origins" of the Arabic numerals is *excruciatingly* incorrect. (If it's intended to be something that he made up, then that's fine, but he is presenting it as if it were fact. Which it's not.)

Funny how, for explaining his angle thing, he draws every number in a square way, except the zero. Also adding angles is pretty convenient when you have to prove that you're right. Because the numbers never looked like this. Even in their original form. It's a cool trick though, but it's totally useless.

"The most time we're gonna spend today is on you". Then there's two long videos about his special abilities and all in all a commercial. Oh, yeah you "learn" how to multiply by 11 (already knew that) in a fast way and some really basic addition tricks. Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing guy when it comes to this special ability. But you get the impression that you too will accomplish something special right after watching the video. Learn the "Trick" (like how the memory masters use different methods). Nothing about that!

Vor 2 Tage

Um... I kinda nodded off as he whinged on about not being able to graduate from high school or fulfill is obligation to the Air Force... then woke up just in time to learn a somewhat pointless trick on multiples of 11. No hard feelings here though, I needed the rest and totally appreciated the inadvertent "This is Spinal Tap" reference. So, his ability to calculate quickly is impressive, but that's the point; learning his "method," which is actually more of an innate ability, is much easier said than done, and definitely not for everyone. By the end, I was waiting for someone to drop an open box of matches on the stage so he could blurt out how many were spilled...

But it is your life, what you are going to do, out of your SELF or HERO, it's on you! That is nothing more than programming your mind! And why do you need "numb-ers/earth/ears"? To build structures, for dumping, stumping and bumping the living souls on these beautiful place, called earth!
